Gorgeous & RARE antique French sterling silver 27pc dessert &'cafe' service initially given to someone by France's last Emperor, Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie (bears the mark on the box, confirming this as a Royal gift), an elegant collection of twelve each in teaspoons and knives with fluted rat-tail style pattern, matching sifter ladle, sugar tongs & tea strainer and all kept in the original gilt embossed crown top black leather storage or presentation box! All pieces, except the tea strainer, bear the French Minerve or Minerva marking, the tiny number "1" designates.
950 silver content 95% pure, higher than the. 925 standard for sterling silver. Silversmith marks are for Philippe Berthier, Paris c. A mid-1800s Louis Philippe era set and all pieces, including that beautiful box, are in fabulous condition! A set you and your guests will be honored to use, one that you'll find extra occasions to get out and impress!
As you can see, all pieces are in wonderful shape! No dents or damage to note though there is a bit of tarnish or corrosion visible on the original steel blades (knives).
