Made in Germany by the world famous Marklin company, this lovely set comprises four tinplate spinning tops together with the all-important rod that makes the tops spin, all contained inside the original box. The box features a wonderful paper label depicting four Edwardian children two boys play with the spinning tops while the girls observe, no doubt hoping they will get a turn eventually. The disc tops are in two sizes 3 inches and 2 ½ inches and they all have subtly different markings and colourways.
Everything works as you would expect it to and you can get all four discs spinning at once if you can move quickly enough! Rather sweetly, the original owners wrote their names on the box so we know that this was once the prized possession of Walter Child and Billy Child. Box measures 7 ½ inches square.Condition: the discs and rod are in good working condition. The box is tired, it has several splits around the sides and some scuffing, but it holds together and the graphic on the label is delightful.
